Cedar Hill, Texas Description
Cedar Hill is a city located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in the U.S. state of Texas. It is situated on the eastern edge of Dallas County, and is part of the Best Southwest area, which includes the nearby cities of DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster. Cedar Hill is a rapidly growing suburb with a population of over 48,000 people as of 2019.
The city has a rich history that dates back to 1846 when it was founded by settlers from Tennessee and Kentucky who were looking for new opportunities in Texas. The city was named after a cedar tree that stood near the original settlement site. In 1856, Cedar Hill became an official town and was incorporated in 1875.
Cedar Hill offers its residents many amenities including parks, trails, golf courses, shopping centers, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The city also boasts several historical sites such as Cedar Hill State Park and Joe Pool Lake which offer outdoor activities like camping, fishing, boating, swimming and more.
Cedar Hill has an excellent school system with several public schools as well as private schools available for students to attend. The city also has several higher education institutions such as Mountain View College and University of Texas at Arlington South Campus located nearby.
The climate in Cedar Hill is generally mild with hot summers and cool winters. The average temperature ranges from lows in the mid-30s during winter months to highs in the mid-90s during summer months.
