Bertram, Texas Description
Bertram, Texas is a small town located in Burnet County, about 45 miles northwest of Austin. It is situated in the beautiful Hill Country region of Central Texas, surrounded by rolling hills and lush green pastures. The town has a population of just over 1,000 people and is known for its friendly atmosphere and laid-back lifestyle.
The town was founded in 1882 by German immigrants who named it after their hometown of Bertram, Germany. The town has remained largely unchanged since then, with many of the original buildings still standing today. The downtown area features a variety of historic buildings including the old post office, the old bank building, and several churches. There are also several antique stores and gift shops that offer unique items from the area’s past.
The main attraction in Bertram is Lake Buchanan, which is located just outside of town. This lake offers plenty of recreational activities such as fishing, boating, swimming, and camping. There are also several parks in the area that provide great opportunities for hiking and biking.
