Alvarado, Texas is a small town located in Johnson County, Texas. It is situated about 25 miles south of Fort Worth and about 20 miles north of Cleburne. The population of Alvarado is approximately 4,000 people.
The town was founded in 1854 by the Alvarado family and named after their ancestor, Don Francisco de Alvarado. The town has a rich history and was once home to the famous Chisholm Trail which ran through the area in the late 1800s.
Alvarado is known for its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere. The downtown area features several historic buildings including the old post office, courthouse, and jailhouse. There are also several restaurants, shops, and other businesses located in the downtown area.
The town also has several parks including Alvarado Park which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and a swimming pool. Other attractions include the Alvarado Museum which houses artifacts from the town's past as well as an art gallery featuring local artists' work.
