Alice, Texas Description
Alice, TX, USA is a small city located in South Texas. It is the county seat of Jim Wells County and has a population of around 20,000 people. The city was founded in 1888 and named after Alice Gertrudis King Kleberg, the daughter of Richard King, who established the famous King Ranch.
Alice is known for its rich history and culture. The city has many historical sites such as the Alice Public Library, which was built in 1910 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are also several museums in town that showcase local history and culture including the Jim Wells County Historical Museum and the South Texas Museum of Art.
The city also offers plenty of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. There are several parks located throughout Alice including Lake Findley Park which features a lake with fishing opportunities, picnic areas, playgrounds, and walking trails. Other popular attractions include golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools, and an 18-hole disc golf course.
Alice is home to several annual events such as the Jim Wells County Fair which takes place every October and features carnival rides, live music performances, food vendors, livestock shows, rodeos, and more. The city also hosts an annual Christmas parade each December that features floats from local businesses and organizations as well as marching bands from area schools.
