Sparta, Tennessee Description
Sparta, Tennessee is a small town located in the Upper Cumberland region of Middle Tennessee. It is situated in White County, about an hour east of Nashville. The population of Sparta is approximately 4,600 people and it covers an area of 8.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1809 and named after the ancient Greek city-state of Sparta. It was originally a farming community but has since grown to include a variety of businesses and industries. The downtown area features several historic buildings, including the White County Courthouse which was built in 1836.
The town is home to several parks and recreational areas, including the Sparta City Park which offers a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and a swimming pool. There are also several golf courses nearby for those looking to hit the links.
