Ooltewah, TN is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Tennessee. It is situated in Hamilton County and is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The town has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.
The town was founded in 1820 by settlers from North Carolina and Virginia who were looking for a place to settle down. The name Ooltewah comes from the Cherokee language and means “place of many owls”. The town has grown steadily over the years, but still retains its small-town feel.
The town is home to several parks, including Ooltewah Park which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and a lake with fishing opportunities. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as an equestrian center.
Ooltewah is home to several schools including Ooltewah High School, East Hamilton Middle/High School, Wolftever Creek Elementary School, and Apison Elementary School. The town also has several churches including First Baptist Church of Ooltewah and St. Jude Catholic Church.
The downtown area features several restaurants such as Big River Grille & Brewing Works and El Meson Mexican Restaurant as well as shops like Ooltewah Antiques & Collectibles and Southern Charm Boutique. There are also several events held throughout the year such as the annual Ooltewah Arts & Crafts Festival in May and the Christmas Parade in December.
