Maryville, Tennessee is a small city located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. It is situated in Blount County, just south of Knoxville and is home to approximately 28,000 people. The city has a rich history that dates back to 1785 when it was founded by Revolutionary War veteran William Craighead.
The city of Maryville is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. It is surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, making it an ideal spot for hiking, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers visitors breathtaking views of the Appalachian Mountains and plenty of opportunities for exploration.

There are also several museums and historical sites to explore such as the Blount Mansion, which was built in 1792 and served as the home of William Craighead’s son-in-law John Sevier who later became Governor of Tennessee. Other attractions include the Maryville College campus which was founded in 1819 and is one of the oldest colleges in the state; the historic Lamar House which was built in 1820; and Fort Craighead which was constructed during the Civil War to protect Maryville from Confederate forces.
Maryville also has a vibrant arts scene with several galleries, theaters, music venues, and festivals throughout the year. The city hosts an annual Dogwood Arts Festival each April that celebrates local artisans with live music performances, art exhibitions, food vendors, and more.
