Germantown is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 38,844 at the 2010 census. Germantown is an affluent suburb of Memphis, bordering it to the east-southeast.
Germantown is home to many corporate headquarters and regional offices for numerous companies including FedEx, International Paper, AutoZone, Nike and ServiceMaster. It also has a large medical center with several hospitals and clinics. The city has several parks and recreational facilities including the Germantown Athletic Club, Germantown Performing Arts Center and the Germantown Soccer Complex.
Germantown is known for its excellent schools and low crime rate. It has been ranked as one of the best places to live in Tennessee by Money Magazine in 2019. The city also boasts a vibrant arts scene with galleries, museums and performing arts venues.
