Goose Creek is a city located in Berkeley County, South Carolina, United States. It is part of the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 35,938 at the 2010 census. Goose Creek is known for its close proximity to Charleston and its many military bases.
The city of Goose Creek is located in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina, just 20 miles northwest of downtown Charleston. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from the mid-50s in winter to the mid-80s in summer.
The city has a rich history that dates back to 1670 when it was first settled by English colonists. In 1719, Goose Creek was officially incorporated as a town and became an important trading post for local farmers and merchants. During the Revolutionary War, Goose Creek served as an important supply depot for American troops fighting against the British forces in nearby Charleston.
Today, Goose Creek is home to several military bases including Naval Weapons Station Charleston and Joint Base Charleston. The city also boasts several parks and recreational areas such as Crowfield Plantation Golf Course, Stono River Park, and Cypress Gardens Water Park. There are also numerous shopping centers and restaurants throughout the city offering everything from local seafood to international cuisine.
