Georgetown, South Carolina is a small coastal town located in the heart of the Grand Strand. It is situated on the Sampit River and Winyah Bay, and is home to a population of approximately 9,000 people. Georgetown has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1729. The town was originally named “George’s Town” after King George II of England, and was one of the earliest settlements in South Carolina.
Today, Georgetown is known for its charming downtown area which features historic buildings, unique shops, and delicious restaurants. The city also boasts several parks and recreational areas including the Sampit Riverwalk Park, which offers stunning views of the river and bay. Georgetown also has a vibrant arts scene with several galleries and museums showcasing local artwork.
Georgetown is home to several festivals throughout the year including the annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show which celebrates wooden boat building traditions from around the world. The city also hosts an annual Christmas parade each December that features floats, marching bands, and Santa Claus himself!
