Conway, South Carolina is a small city located in Horry County, South Carolina. It is situated on the Waccamaw River and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. The city has a population of around 22,000 people and is known for its historic downtown area and its proximity to the beach.
Conway was founded in 1732 and was originally named Kingston. It was later renamed Conwayborough after General Robert Conway who served in the Revolutionary War. The city has a rich history that includes being home to several plantations during the antebellum period. Today, Conway is home to several historic sites including the Horry County Courthouse, which dates back to 1825.
