Summit, Rhode Island is a small town located in the southwestern part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Pawtuxet River and is bordered by Coventry to the north, West Greenwich to the east, and Scituate to the south. The town has a population of just over 1,000 people and covers an area of approximately 4.5 square miles.

Summit is a rural community with a strong sense of history and tradition. The town was first settled in 1642 by English settlers who named it Summit because of its location at the highest point in Kent County. The town was incorporated in 1731 and has remained largely unchanged since then.

The town center is home to several historic buildings including the Summit Town Hall, which was built in 1820, and St. John's Episcopal Church, which dates back to 1790. There are also several small businesses located in Summit including a general store, a post office, and several restaurants.

Summit is known for its natural beauty with many parks and trails for hiking and biking throughout the area. The nearby Arcadia Management Area offers over 10,000 acres of protected land for outdoor recreation activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and more.

Summit is also home to several annual events such as the Summit Summer Festival which takes place each July featuring live music performances from local bands as well as food vendors and craft booths. The town also hosts an annual Christmas parade each December that features floats from local businesses as well as marching bands from local schools.
