Coventry, Rhode Island is a small town located in the western part of the state. It is situated in Kent County and is bordered by West Greenwich, East Greenwich, West Warwick, and Exeter. The town has a population of approximately 35,000 people and covers an area of about 33 square miles.
The town was founded in 1741 and was originally called Greene's End after the original settler, William Greene. The name was changed to Coventry in 1743 after the city of Coventry in England. The town has a rich history that includes being home to many Revolutionary War battles as well as being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in America.
Today, Coventry is a vibrant community with plenty to offer its residents and visitors alike. There are numerous parks and recreational areas for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and more. There are also several historic sites to explore including the Old Stone Mill which dates back to 1790 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
