Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea. It is an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands, such as Vieques, Culebra, and Mona. The capital and largest city is San Juan.
The total area of Puerto Rico is 9,104 square kilometers (3,515 square miles). It has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 21°C (70°F) to 32°C (90°F). The terrain is mostly mountainous with coastal plains in the north and south.
Puerto Rico has a population of 3.2 million people, most of whom are of Spanish or African descent. Spanish is the official language, but English is widely spoken. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion.
The economy of Puerto Rico is largely based on tourism and manufacturing. The island's main industries include pharmaceuticals, electronics, apparel, food processing, and rum production. Agriculture also plays an important role in the economy, with coffee, sugarcane, and tobacco being some of the main crops grown.
