Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania is a borough located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Pocono Mountains region of the state and is part of the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area. The population of Stroudsburg was 5,818 at the 2010 census.

Stroudsburg is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Pocono Mountains and its many outdoor activities. The town has a vibrant downtown area with many shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. There are also several parks and trails in the area for visitors to explore.

The town was founded in 1799 by Jacob Stroud, who purchased land from Native Americans and established a trading post. The town grew rapidly over the next few decades as it became an important stop on the stagecoach route between Philadelphia and New York City. In 1815, Stroudsburg was incorporated as a borough.

Today, Stroudsburg is home to East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, which enrolls over 8,000 students each year. The university offers more than 80 undergraduate majors and numerous graduate programs. The town also has several public schools including elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools that serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
