Hillsboro, Oregon is a city located in the Tualatin Valley, just west of Portland. It is the fifth-largest city in the state and the county seat of Washington County. Hillsboro is known for its vibrant downtown area, which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The city also has a strong agricultural heritage, with many farms and wineries located nearby.
Hillsboro is home to several major employers, including Intel Corporation and Genentech. The city also has a thriving tech industry, with many startups and established companies based here. Hillsboro is served by two major highways: US 26 and OR 8. The MAX light rail system connects Hillsboro to downtown Portland and other cities in the metro area.
The city has an abundance of parks and green spaces, including Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, which offers hiking trails and wildlife viewing opportunities. There are also several golf courses in the area, as well as numerous sports fields for soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, volleyball and more.
Hillsboro has a diverse population with many cultural events throughout the year such as the Hillsboro Hops baseball team games at Ron Tonkin Field or the Washington County Fair held annually at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The city also hosts several festivals throughout the year such as Oktoberfest or the Hillsboro Farmers Market on Saturdays during summer months.
