Advance is a small unincorporated community located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon. It is situated in the Willamette Valley, about 25 miles south of Salem and 40 miles north of Eugene. The town has a population of just over 200 people and is surrounded by lush green forests, rolling hills, and picturesque farmland.
The town was founded in 1876 by settlers from the Midwest who were looking for a place to call home. The town was named after one of its founders, John Advance, who had served as a captain in the Civil War.
