Yukon, Oklahoma Description

Yukon, Oklahoma is a small city located in Canadian County, just west of Oklahoma City. It is part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and has a population of about 22,000 people. The city was founded in 1891 and named after the Yukon River in Canada.

Yukon is known for its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere. The downtown area features a variety of shops, restaurants, and other businesses. There are also several parks and recreational areas throughout the city, including the Yukon Community Center which offers a variety of activities for all ages.

The city is home to several schools, including Yukon High School, which is part of the Mustang Public Schools district. The school district also includes several elementary schools and middle schools. There are also several private schools in the area as well as higher education institutions such as Oklahoma Christian University and Southern Nazarene University.

Yukon has a thriving economy with many businesses located in the downtown area as well as industrial parks on the outskirts of town. Major employers include Walmart Distribution Center, Tinker Air Force Base, and Integris Health Care System. The city also has an active arts scene with several galleries and performance venues throughout town.
