Newcastle, Oklahoma Description
Newcastle is a small town located in the southwestern corner of Oklahoma, about 20 miles south of Oklahoma City. It is part of the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area and has a population of just over 7,000 people.
The town was founded in 1891 and named after Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England. It was originally a farming community but has since grown to include many businesses and services. The town is home to several parks, including Newcastle Lake Park which offers fishing, boating, camping, and other outdoor activities. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as a movie theater and bowling alley.
The town is served by two school districts: Newcastle Public Schools and Moore Public Schools. Both districts offer elementary, middle, and high schools as well as alternative education programs. The town also has a library and several churches representing various denominations.
Newcastle is known for its friendly atmosphere and small-town charm. Residents enjoy the close proximity to larger cities such as Oklahoma City while still maintaining their own unique identity. The town hosts several annual events such as the Newcastle Festival of Lights during the holiday season and the Newcastle Days celebration each summer.
