McAlester, Oklahoma is a city located in Pittsburg County in the southeastern part of the state. It is the county seat and has a population of around 18,000 people. The city was founded in 1872 and named after James McAlester, a prominent Choctaw leader.
McAlester is known for its rich history and culture.
