Jenks, Oklahoma Description
Jenks, Oklahoma is a small city located in Tulsa County, just south of the Arkansas River. It is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area and has a population of around 22,000 people. The city was founded in 1899 by William S. Jenks and was originally known as Jenksville.
Jenks is home to many attractions such as the Oklahoma Aquarium, which houses over 200 species of fish and other aquatic life. The city also has a variety of parks and trails for outdoor recreation, including the Riverwalk Trail along the Arkansas River. Other popular attractions include the Tulsa Zoo, the Tulsa Air & Space Museum, and the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.
The city is served by several major highways including Interstate 44, US Highway 75, and State Highway 51. It also has an Amtrak station with service to Chicago and other cities throughout the Midwest.
Jenks is known for its excellent schools, which are part of the Jenks Public School District. The district includes five elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one alternative school. The district also offers a variety of extracurricular activities such as sports teams and clubs for students to participate in.
