Durant, Oklahoma is a city located in Bryan County, Oklahoma. It is the county seat of Bryan County and is situated along the Red River, which forms the border between Oklahoma and Texas. The city has a population of approximately 17,000 people and covers an area of approximately 11 square miles.
Durant is home to Southeastern Oklahoma State University, which was founded in 1909 as Southeastern State Normal School. The university offers a variety of degree programs in areas such as business, education, nursing, and more. Durant also has several other educational institutions including the Choctaw Nation Higher Education Center and the Southern Technical Institute.
The city is known for its vibrant downtown area which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. There are also several parks located throughout the city including Eisenhower Park and Three Rivers Park. Durant also hosts several annual events such as the Three Rivers Festival and the Red River Balloon Rally.
Durant is served by two major highways: US-69/75 and US-70/75. The city also has its own airport (Eaker Field) which serves general aviation aircrafts. There are also several bus lines that serve Durant including Greyhound Lines Inc., Jefferson Lines Inc., and Arrow Express Lines Inc.
