Broken Bow, Oklahoma Description
Broken Bow, Oklahoma is a small town located in McCurtain County in the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Mountain Fork River and is surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills. The town was founded in 1876 and has a population of around 4,000 people.
The town is known for its outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and canoeing. There are several lakes nearby including Broken Bow Lake, Hugo Lake, and Sardis Lake which offer plenty of opportunities for recreation. The Ouachita National Forest is also nearby and provides a great place to explore nature.
The downtown area of Broken Bow features several historic buildings including the old post office building which dates back to 1891. There are also several restaurants and shops that offer unique items from local artisans. The town also hosts several festivals throughout the year such as the annual Bluegrass Festival in May and the Fall Festival in October.
Broken Bow is home to many attractions such as Beavers Bend State Park which offers camping, fishing, hiking trails, horseback riding, swimming pools, and more. Other attractions include Beavers Bend Resort Park which features a golf course and cabins for rent; Cedar Creek Golf Course; Hochatown State Park; Choctaw Casino; and many more.
