Newark, Ohio is a small city located in Licking County, Ohio. It is situated about 30 miles east of Columbus and is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The city has a population of approximately 47,000 people and covers an area of about 16 square miles.
The city was founded in 1802 by settlers from New Jersey and was named after Newark, New Jersey. It quickly grew to become an important industrial center due to its location on the Ohio and Erie Canal. Today, Newark is home to several large employers such as Owens Corning, AEP Ohio, and Denison University.
The downtown area of Newark is filled with historic buildings and homes that date back to the 19th century. There are also many parks throughout the city including Don Edwards Park, which features a lake for fishing and boating as well as walking trails.
