Garfield Heights is a city located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. It is an inner-ring suburb of Cleveland and is located approximately 8 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland. The population was 28,849 at the 2010 census.
Garfield Heights is a diverse community with a mix of residential and commercial areas. The city has many parks and recreational facilities, including the Garfield Park Reservation, which offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and a lake for fishing. There are also several golf courses in the area.
The city has several shopping centers and retail stores, including Southgate Shopping Center and Garfield Plaza Shopping Center. There are also several restaurants in the area that offer a variety of cuisines from around the world.
The city is served by two school districts: Garfield Heights City Schools and Maple Heights City Schools. Both districts offer elementary, middle, and high schools as well as vocational schools for students interested in pursuing technical careers after graduation.
Garfield Heights is home to several churches representing various denominations including Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Hinduism and Buddhism. The city also has its own library system with branches throughout the city offering books, magazines, movies and other media for residents to enjoy.
Garfield Heights is easily accessible by car via Interstate 480 or Interstate 77 which both run through the city limits. Public transportation is provided by the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) which offers bus service throughout the city as well as rail service to downtown Cleveland via the Red Line rapid transit system.
