Woodside, New York Description
Woodside is a small, affluent neighborhood located in the borough of Queens in New York City. It is bordered by Astoria to the north, Sunnyside to the east, Maspeth to the south, and Long Island City to the west. The neighborhood is known for its large homes and tree-lined streets.
The area was originally settled by Dutch farmers in the 17th century and was later developed as a residential area in the late 19th century. Today, Woodside is home to a diverse population of immigrants from all over the world. The neighborhood has a strong Irish-American presence and is also home to many Latin American immigrants.
Woodside has several parks and green spaces, including Travers Park, which features basketball courts, playgrounds, and a dog run; Woodside Park; and Doughboy Plaza. There are also several restaurants and bars in the area that offer a variety of cuisines from around the world.
The neighborhood is served by several bus lines as well as two subway stations: 61st Street–Woodside station on the 7 train and 52nd Street–Lincoln Avenue station on the N/W trains. Woodside also has easy access to Manhattan via car or public transportation.
