Williamsville is a village located in the town of Amherst in Erie County, New York. It is a suburb of Buffalo and is located about 10 miles northeast of the city. The village has a population of 5,300 people and covers an area of 2.2 square miles.

The village was founded in 1811 by Jonas Williams, who built a grist mill on Ellicott Creek. The village was originally known as "Williams Mills" but was later changed to "Williamsville". The village grew rapidly during the 19th century and became an important industrial center for the region.

Today, Williamsville is known for its quaint downtown area which features many historic buildings and shops. There are several restaurants, cafes, boutiques, galleries, and other businesses that line Main Street. The village also has several parks including Island Park which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and a pond with ducks and geese.

The Williamsville Central School District serves the educational needs of the community with five elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and one alternative high school. The district also offers numerous extracurricular activities such as sports teams and clubs for students to participate in.

Williamsville is home to many churches including St. Gregory's Roman Catholic Church which was built in 1845 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are also several synagogues located in the village as well as a mosque that serves the local Muslim community.
