Webster, New York Description
Webster, NY is a town located in Monroe County, New York. It is situated on the south shore of Lake Ontario and is part of the Rochester metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1812 and has a population of approximately 42,000 people.
The town of Webster is known for its beautiful parks and recreational areas. Webster Park, located on the lakefront, offers a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, and picnicking. The park also features a playground and picnic pavilion. Other parks in the area include North Ponds Park and West Webster Park which offer hiking trails, playgrounds, and sports fields.
The town also has several shopping centers including the Webster Village Center which features stores such as Target, Walmart Supercenter, Best Buy, Kohl’s Department Store, Dick’s Sporting Goods and more. There are also many restaurants in the area ranging from fast food to fine dining establishments.
Webster is home to several schools including Webster Schroeder High School which serves grades 9-12; Spry Middle School which serves grades 6-8; Klem Road Elementary School which serves grades K-5; Plank Road North Elementary School which serves grades K-5; State Road Elementary School which serves grades K-5; Willink Middle School which serves grades 6-8; and Willink High School which serves grades 9-12. The town also has several private schools including St John Fisher College Preparatory School and Our Lady of Mercy High School.
In addition to its educational institutions, Webster also has several cultural attractions such as the Memorial Art Gallery at University of Rochester and the George Eastman Museum at Eastman House. The town also hosts many festivals throughout the year such as the annual Apple Festival in September and Christmas in July celebration in July.
