Warwick, New York Description
Warwick, NY is a small town located in Orange County, New York. It is situated in the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains and is part of the Hudson Valley region. The town has a population of approximately 32,000 people and covers an area of about 33 square miles.
The town was founded in 1764 by John Van Etten and was originally called "Warwick Patent". It was named after Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick. The town has a rich history and many historic sites including the Warwick Historical Society Museum, which houses artifacts from the Revolutionary War era.
The town is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, golfing and more. There are also several parks in the area including Warwick Town Park which features a playground and picnic areas.
The downtown area of Warwick offers a variety of shops and restaurants as well as art galleries and other attractions. There are also several annual events held in the town such as the Applefest Festival which celebrates local apple growers with music, food vendors and more.
Warwick is also home to several colleges including SUNY Orange Community College and Mount Saint Mary College. The town is served by two school districts: Warwick Valley Central School District and Florida Union Free School District.
