Wallkill is a town located in Orange County, New York, United States. It is situated in the Hudson Valley region of the state, approximately 70 miles north of New York City. The town has a population of approximately 11,000 people and covers an area of about 40 square miles.
The town was first settled by Dutch settlers in the late 17th century and was officially incorporated in 1772. Wallkill is home to several historic sites including the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge, which was established in 1990 to protect the river's natural resources. The refuge is home to a variety of wildlife including bald eagles, ospreys, beavers, and muskrats.
