Northport, New York is a charming village located on the North Shore of Long Island. It is situated in the Town of Huntington and is part of Suffolk County. The village has a population of around 7,400 people and covers an area of 2.2 square miles.

The village was founded in 1837 by Captain John Hulbert and was originally called Great Cow Harbour. It was later renamed Northport in 1837 when it became a post office. The village has a rich history and many historic buildings still stand today, including the Old Village Hall which dates back to 1867.

Northport is known for its quaint downtown area with its many shops, restaurants, and galleries. There are also several parks located throughout the village, including Northport Village Park which features a playground, basketball court, and picnic areas. The harbor is also popular for fishing and boating activities.

Northport is easily accessible from New York City via the Long Island Rail Road or by car via the Long Island Expressway or Northern State Parkway. The village offers plenty of activities for visitors to enjoy such as shopping, dining, sightseeing, fishing, boating, swimming at Crab Meadow Beach or visiting one of the many museums or historical sites in the area.
