Mount Vernon, NY is a city located in Westchester County, New York. It is situated just north of the Bronx and is part of the New York metropolitan area. The city has a population of approximately 68,000 people and covers an area of 5.3 square miles.

Mount Vernon is known for its rich history and diverse culture. It was founded in 1664 by John Richbell and was originally named Richbellville. The city was later renamed Mount Vernon after George Washington's estate in Virginia.

The city also has two major highways running through it: Interstate 95 (the Cross-Westchester Expressway) and the Hutchinson River Parkway (which connects Mount Vernon to White Plains).
