Lysander is a small town located in Onondaga County, New York. It is situated on the northern edge of the Finger Lakes region and is part of the Syracuse Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of approximately 7,000 people and covers an area of about 30 square miles.

The town was founded in 1794 by settlers from Connecticut and Massachusetts who were looking for new land to farm. The town was named after Lysander, a character from Greek mythology who was known for his bravery and loyalty.
