Hopewell Junction, New York Description
Hopewell Junction is a hamlet located in Dutchess County, New York, United States. It is part of the town of East Fishkill and is situated in the Hudson Valley region. The hamlet has a population of approximately 5,000 people and is located about 60 miles north of New York City.
The area was first settled by Dutch farmers in the late 17th century and was known as "Hoppen Velt" or "Hopeful Valley". The name was changed to Hopewell Junction in 1849 when the railroad came through the area. The hamlet has grown steadily since then and today it is a vibrant community with many amenities.
The hamlet has several parks and recreational areas including Bowdoin Park, which offers swimming, fishing, boating, camping, hiking trails, picnic areas and more. There are also several golf courses nearby including Casperkill Golf Course and Dutchess Golf Club.
The hamlet also has several shopping centers including East Fishkill Plaza Shopping Center and Hopewell Junction Shopping Center. There are also many restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining establishments.
Hopewell Junction is served by two school districts: Wappingers Central School District and Arlington Central School District. There are also several private schools in the area such as Our Lady of Lourdes High School and St. Columba Catholic School.
The hamlet is home to many businesses ranging from small local shops to large corporations such as IBM Corporation which has its headquarters here.
