Hempstead, New York Description
Hempstead is a town located in Nassau County, New York, United States. It is the most populous town in the state of New York and the second most populous town in the United States with a population of 759,757 as of the 2010 census. The town is located on Long Island and borders Queens to the east and Brooklyn to the west.
Hempstead is home to Hofstra University, one of the largest private universities in New York State. The university offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, including business, law, engineering, education, and more. The university also hosts a number of cultural events throughout the year such as concerts, plays, art exhibitions, lectures and more.
The town also has several parks including Hempstead Lake State Park which offers swimming, fishing and boating activities as well as hiking trails. There are also several golf courses located within Hempstead including Eisenhower Park Golf Course which features an 18-hole championship course.
Hempstead is home to many shopping centers such as Roosevelt Field Mall which features over 200 stores and restaurants. There are also several smaller shopping centers throughout Hempstead that offer unique shops and restaurants for residents to enjoy.
The town has a vibrant nightlife scene with many bars and clubs offering live music or DJs playing all types of music from hip-hop to rock n’ roll. There are also several movie theaters located throughout Hempstead that show both new releases and classic films.
Hempstead is served by two major airports: John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) located in Queens and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) located in Queens/Bronx border area. Both airports offer domestic flights as well as international flights to destinations around the world.
