East Setauket is a hamlet located in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York. It is situated on the north shore of Long Island, approximately 60 miles east of Manhattan. The hamlet has a population of around 15,000 people and is part of the Three Village Central School District.

East Setauket is home to Stony Brook University and Stony Brook University Medical Center, which are both located within the hamlet's boundaries. The area also features several parks and nature preserves, including Caleb Smith State Park Preserve and Avalon Park & Preserve.

The area was an important site during the Revolutionary War; it was here that General George Washington met with French General Rochambeau to plan their strategy against the British forces at Yorktown.
