Bay Shore, New York Description
Bay Shore is a hamlet located in the Town of Islip in Suffolk County, New York. It is situated on the South Shore of Long Island, approximately 50 miles east of Manhattan. The hamlet has a population of around 28,000 people and is part of the Greater Islip area.
Bay Shore is known for its beautiful beaches and waterfront parks. It is home to several marinas, including the Bay Shore Marina and the Bay Shore Yacht Club. The town also boasts a number of restaurants, bars, and shops along Main Street and at the Bay Shore Mall.
The town has a rich history dating back to 1683 when it was first settled by English colonists. During the Revolutionary War, Bay Shore was an important port for supplying troops with food and supplies. In 1837, it became an incorporated village and in 1920 it was annexed by Islip Town.
Today, Bay Shore is a vibrant community with plenty to offer residents and visitors alike. There are numerous recreational activities available such as fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking, sailing, golfing, tennis courts and more. The town also hosts several annual events such as the Bay Fest Music Festival in July and the Great South Bay Music Festival in August.
