Baldwin, New York Description
Baldwin is a hamlet located in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York. It is situated on the South Shore of Long Island, approximately 25 miles east of Manhattan. The population was 24,033 at the 2010 census.
Baldwin is a diverse community with a mix of residential and commercial areas. The main thoroughfare is Grand Avenue, which runs through the center of town and is lined with small businesses and restaurants. There are also several shopping centers located throughout Baldwin, including Baldwin Harbor Shopping Center and Baldwin Plaza Shopping Center.
The area has several parks and recreational facilities, including Baldwin Park, which features a playground, basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts, and a walking path. There are also several public schools in the area that serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Baldwin is served by two major highways: the Southern State Parkway and the Wantagh State Parkway. The Long Island Rail Road provides service to Penn Station in Manhattan as well as other points on Long Island. The nearest airport is John F Kennedy International Airport in Queens.
