Amherst, NY is a town located in the northern part of Erie County, New York. It is a suburb of Buffalo and is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The town has a population of 122,366 people as of 2019.
The town was founded in 1818 and was named after Lord Jeffrey Amherst, a British general who fought in the French and Indian War. The town has grown significantly since its founding and is now home to many businesses, schools, parks, and other attractions.
The University at Buffalo (UB) is located in Amherst and is one of the largest universities in the state. UB offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs for students from all over the world.
