Mesquite, Nevada is a small city located in Clark County, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. It is situated along the Arizona border and is part of the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The city has a population of around 18,000 people and covers an area of about 40 square miles.
The city was founded in 1880 as a stop on the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad line. It was named after the mesquite trees that grew in abundance in the area. Today, Mesquite is known for its golf courses, casinos, and outdoor recreation opportunities.
The climate in Mesquite is arid desert with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from highs of 90°F (32°C) during the summer months to lows of 40°F (4°C) during winter months. Rainfall averages around 4 inches per year with most precipitation occurring between July and September.
