Boulder City, Nevada Description
Boulder City, Nevada is a small city located in the Mojave Desert, about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas. It is the only city in Nevada that does not allow gambling. The city was founded in 1931 as a planned community to house workers who were building the nearby Hoover Dam.
The city has a population of around 15,000 people and covers an area of about 20 square miles. It is known for its historic downtown area, which features many buildings from the 1930s and 1940s. The downtown area also includes several restaurants, shops, and galleries.
The climate in Boulder City is arid desert with hot summers and mild winters. The average high temperature in July is 103°F (39°C) and the average low temperature in January is 37°F (3°C). Rainfall averages around 4 inches per year.
Boulder City has several parks and recreational areas including Veterans Memorial Park, Bootleg Canyon Mountain Bike Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Hemenway Valley Park. There are also several golf courses in the area including Boulder Creek Golf Club and Boulder City Golf Course.
Boulder City is home to several annual events including the Boulder City Art Festival, Boulder City Beerfest, and the Boulder Dam Days Festival. The city also hosts a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, boating, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, bird watching and more.
