Sussex, New Jersey Description
Sussex, NJ is a small borough located in the northwest corner of New Jersey. It is situated in the foothills of the Kittatinny Mountains and is part of Sussex County. The town has a population of just over 5,000 people and covers an area of 2.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1753 and was originally known as Deckertown. It was later renamed Sussex after the county it is located in. The town has a rich history and many historic buildings still stand today, including the Old Deckertown Church which dates back to 1760.
The town is home to several parks, including High Point State Park which offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and mountains. There are also several lakes in the area, such as Lake Hopatcong and Swartswood Lake, which offer great fishing opportunities.
