Irvington, NJ is a small town located in Essex County, New Jersey. It is situated just 8 miles from Newark and 12 miles from New York City. The town has a population of approximately 53,000 people and covers an area of 2.7 square miles.
The town was founded in 1874 by William B. Irving and was originally known as Camptown until it was renamed Irvington in 1878. The town has a rich history and is home to many historic sites including the Thomas Edison National Historical Park, the Irvington Public Library, and the First Presbyterian Church of Irvington.
The town is known for its diverse population with residents coming from all over the world including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
