Franklin, New Jersey Description
Franklin is a small borough located in Somerset County, New Jersey. It is situated in the Raritan Valley region of Central New Jersey and is part of the New York metropolitan area. The town has a population of approximately 5,000 people and covers an area of 2.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1798 by William Penn's grandson, Benjamin Franklin, who named it after himself. It was originally part of Franklin Township before becoming its own borough in 1913.
Franklin is known for its small-town charm and rural atmosphere. The town has several parks and recreational areas, including Colonial Park, which features a lake, picnic areas, playgrounds, and walking trails. There are also several historic sites in the area such as the Van Neste House Museum and the Old Dutch Parsonage Museum.
The town has a vibrant downtown area with many shops and restaurants to explore. There are also several annual events held throughout the year such as the Franklin Day Festival and the Franklin Fall Festival.
