Bloomfield, New Jersey Description
Bloomfield, NJ is a small town located in Essex County, New Jersey. It is situated just west of Newark and east of Montclair. The town has a population of approximately 47,000 people and covers an area of 5.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1812 and was originally known as the “Green Village” due to its lush landscape and rolling hills. Bloomfield is home to many historic sites such as the First Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1794, and the Bloomfield Public Library, which opened in 1891.
The town has a vibrant downtown area with many shops, restaurants, and businesses. There are also several parks located throughout the town including Brookdale Park, Watsessing Park, and Brookside Park. These parks offer plenty of recreational activities such as walking trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, and more.
Bloomfield is served by two major highways: Route 3 and the Garden State Parkway. The town also has its own train station on the Montclair-Boonton Line which provides easy access to New York City via NJ Transit trains.
