Berkeley is a small town located in Ocean County, New Jersey. It is situated on the Barnegat Bay and is part of the larger Toms River metropolitan area. Berkeley has a population of approximately 24,000 people and covers an area of just over 10 square miles.
The town was founded in 1875 and was named after John Berkeley, one of the original settlers. The town has a rich history that includes being home to several Revolutionary War battles and being the site of the first post office in Ocean County.
Berkeley is known for its beautiful beaches, parks, and recreational areas. The town has two public beaches: Bayview Park Beach and Berkeley Island County Park Beach.
