Bayville, New Jersey Description
Bayville is a small town located in Ocean County, New Jersey. It is situated on the Barnegat Bay and is part of the larger Toms River Township. The town has a population of approximately 8,000 people and covers an area of 4.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1867 by Captain John C. Applegate and was originally known as Union Landing. It was later renamed to Bayville in 1876 after the bay that it sits on. The town has a rich history and many of its original buildings still stand today, including the Applegate-Lippincott House which dates back to 1790.
The town is home to several parks and beaches, including Island Beach State Park which offers swimming, fishing, boating, camping, and other recreational activities. There are also several marinas located in Bayville where visitors can rent boats or take sailing lessons.
