Waxhaw, North Carolina Description
Waxhaw is a small town located in Union County, North Carolina. It is situated just south of the state line with South Carolina and is part of the Charlotte metropolitan area. The town has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its historic downtown area, which features many buildings from the 19th century.
The town was founded in 1750 by German immigrants who named it after the Waxhaw Indians who lived in the area at the time. The town has grown steadily since then and today it is home to a variety of businesses, including restaurants, shops, and galleries. There are also several parks and recreational areas in Waxhaw, including Cane Creek Park and Waxhaw Creek Park.
The downtown area of Waxhaw is full of historic buildings that have been preserved over the years.
