Lillington, North Carolina Description
Lillington is a small town located in Harnett County, North Carolina. It is situated about 30 miles south of Raleigh and is part of the Dunn Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of approximately 2,500 people and covers an area of 4.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1855 and named after William Lillington, a prominent local politician. It was originally a farming community but has since grown to include several businesses and industries. The town is home to several parks, including the Lillington Community Park which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and sports fields.
The downtown area of Lillington is home to many historic buildings such as the old post office building which dates back to the early 1900s. There are also several churches in the area including First Baptist Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
The town also hosts several annual events such as the Lillington Spring Festival which takes place each April and features live music, food vendors, arts & crafts booths, and more.
