Huntersville, North Carolina Description
Huntersville, North Carolina is a small town located in the northern part of Mecklenburg County. It is situated just 15 miles north of Charlotte and is part of the Charlotte metropolitan area. The town has a population of around 50,000 people and covers an area of approximately 20 square miles.
The town was founded in 1873 by John Franklin Hunter, who named it after himself. It was originally a farming community but has since grown into a thriving suburban area with many businesses and amenities. The downtown area features several historic buildings, including the old Huntersville Town Hall which dates back to 1877.
The town is home to several parks and recreational areas, including Latta Plantation Nature Preserve, North Mecklenburg Park, and Birkdale Village Shopping Center. There are also numerous golf courses in the area, as well as Lake Norman State Park which offers swimming, fishing, boating, camping and other outdoor activities.
Huntersville is served by two major highways: I-77 and I-485. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is located just 25 minutes away from the town center. There are also several public schools in the area that serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Overall, Huntersville is a great place to live with plenty of amenities for residents to enjoy. It has a small-town feel while still being close enough to Charlotte for easy access to all that the city has to offer.
